Welcome to the Memphis Astronomical Society’s General Meetings Page!
Established with a passion for exploring the cosmos and understanding the wonders of the universe, our society has been fostering a community of astronomy enthusiasts, both seasoned observers and curious newcomers, since the 1950’s.

The Memphis Astronomical Society usually meets at Rhodes College on the 1st Friday of every month. Yet sometimes we meet via zoom only when we are using non-local speakers. Refer to the calendar for the latest information.  We always stream meetings live on zoom and post them to our youtube channel. You can see the videos if you scroll down.

Our General Meetings serve as a time for members to come together, share their knowledge, and experience captivating presentations on various astronomical topics. Whether you’re an amateur astronomer, a seasoned professional, or simply someone fascinated by the night sky, our meetings offer something for everyone.

Our meetings feature a diverse lineup of distinguished speakers, including astronomers, researchers, educators, and space enthusiasts, and amateurs who come from various backgrounds and institutions. They bring their unique perspectives and cutting-edge insights into the cosmos, enlightening us with the latest discoveries, space missions, celestial events, and breakthroughs in astrophysics.
